Thing 4

I registered my blog, The Life of CRiley, and have posted it. I keep getting a message about my email address but haven't figured out what it means yet. It says something about confirming my email address but when I try to do that I keep getting an error message. I'll keep trying! That's one thing that can be said about me, is that I'm persistent.

You know what? I learn something new every day. I just discovered the ABC check mark over there in the left hand corner near the word Preview. I'm a pretty good speller but not at all good at typing. My errors ususally come from pressing the wrong key. I didn't think that we had spell check but now I know that we do. Yea!

Thing 3 The Life of CRiley

Leave it to me to post Thing 5, My Friend Flikr, before I posted anything about Thing 3 and Thing 4. In the scheme of things I guess it really doesn't matter that much.

In a world of childrens' books and characters, I feel a lot like Tacky the Penguin marching to the beat of a different drum! He gets where he's going just differently than Goodly, Lovely, Angel, Neatly, and Perfect.

So I've set up my blog, The Life of CRiley, named after the old television, The Life of Riley. Someone else had already taken that name for his/her blog. I added my Thing 1 and Thing 2 posts on that dreary, weathered, Monday inservice day. I created my Avatar as well.

I'd like to say that I would have started my own blog anyway but I'd be telling a story. The good thing about The 23 Things is that it is making me explore and learn new things. It was hard, actually more frustrating than hard, to work on this that Monday. Now that my bone graft is healing and my face isn't swollen, things are going a lot smoother.

Did you get the title play on words? Maybe you have to be age impaired (i.e. older) to understand it. I remember the movie,
My Friend Flicka, from my youth.
I am finally back at work on The 23 Things, hurray! I visited the Flickr web site and took the tour. I like the suggestions that they listed for tagging items. I think that I will try to organize my photos using this setup in the future:

photo-person(s)name or photo-subject

photounclegrady photovacation2007

This way I can go to the photo ________ and see my pictures all in the same place. I have been saving them with the person or activity first so they are all over the place. The new way will make it a lot easier for me!

Thing 2

The easiest of The 7 and 1/2 Lifelong Learning Habits is #7 1/2, Play! I like to play and it comes very easily to me. I like to learn new things as well but I don't have the confidence to write about it and post where everyone can read it. This leads to the hardest of the 7 1/2 habits for me, have confidence in yourself as a competent effective learner. I think that viewing problems as challenges is also hard for me and that has to do with life experiences more than anything else.

Thing 1

I want to learn about and experience all of the latest technologies. This promises to be an easy, guided introduction to many new tools that I would otherwise find too intimidating, confusing, and time consuming. I need help when trying to learn something new and I am trying to be more organized.

Today is not one of my better days. My jaw hurts from last Thursday's bone graft and gives the phrase, "Grin and Bear It" a whole new meaning for me. Trying to be creative on a usual day is easy compared to trying to do this today. I will keep trudging along. I find that setting up the blog was a little confusing but not that hard. I wasn't sure what to do, when, but having Alice, Sue, and Judy around really helped. They are far ahead of me because I stopped to go to the doctor's office.
